YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Security & Risk Management RPL FAQs

Everything you need to know about security and risk management RPL qualifications at 3CIR.

What security and risk management qualifications does 3CIR offer?
We offer 4 security and risk management qualifications via RPL: 22603VIC Certificate IV in Cyber Security ($862.50), CPP40719 Certificate IV in Security Management ($862.50), CPP41519 Certificate IV in Security Risk Analysis ($862.50), and CPP50619 Diploma of Security Risk Management ($1,125). All prices include the 25% military and emergency services discount. For public sector government security qualifications, see our Government page.
What's the difference between Security Management and Security Risk Analysis?
Security Management (CPP40719) focuses on leading security teams and operations — control rooms, guards, electronic security, and client management. It's operational and hands-on. Security Risk Analysis (CPP41519) focuses on identifying and evaluating threats — threat assessment, vulnerability analysis, risk registers, and compliance frameworks. It's analytical and strategic. Choose Management if you lead teams; choose Risk Analysis if you assess threats.
What military experience counts towards security RPL?
Extensive ADF experience qualifies: intelligence analysis, protective security, force protection, threat assessment, base security, provost operations, signals/IT security, operational planning, risk assessment, and access control. Your PMKeys records, service history, course reports (including Corps-specific security courses), position descriptions, and operational duty statements serve as evidence.
Can police officers get security qualifications through RPL?
Yes. Police experience in investigations, intelligence, crime prevention, risk assessment, operational planning, and protective security maps directly to these qualifications. Officers from all state and federal police forces are eligible. The Diploma of Security Risk Management is particularly popular with senior constables and sergeants looking to transition into private sector security management or consulting roles.
Do I need an existing security licence for these qualifications?
No licensing requirements apply to any of these qualifications at the time of publication. However, if you plan to work in frontline security roles in some states, you may need a separate state-issued security licence. These RPL qualifications are above the licence level — they demonstrate supervisory, management, and analytical capability. Many employers and defence contractors accept these qualifications in lieu of or alongside a security licence.
Is the Cyber Security qualification different from the CPP codes?
Yes. The 22603VIC Certificate IV in Cyber Security is a Victorian-accredited course focused specifically on digital and IT security — network defence, incident response, data protection, and cyber legislation. The CPP codes (CPP40719, CPP41519, CPP50619) are national training package qualifications focused on physical and organisational security — security teams, risk analysis, and strategic risk management. They complement each other well; many candidates pursue one of each.
How much cheaper is 3CIR than other security RPL providers?
Significantly. Our Certificate IV qualifications start at $862.50 with the 25% military and emergency services discount. Major competitors charge $1,200+ per qualification with no military discount. The Diploma is $1,125 vs $1,500–$1,875 elsewhere. Plus we offer interest-free payment plans through Afterpay, Klarna, Zip, DebitSuccess, and GoCardless — breaking costs down to as little as $16.59/week.
