Looking to coordinate and maintain the WHS program in your organisation? The BSB51319 Diploma of Work Health and Safety is designed for practitioners with a substantial knowledge base who need to effectively manage WHS programs at a senior level. You'll develop skills to lead risk management, investigate incidents, maintain WHS management systems, and manage consultation processes.
This qualification comprises 10 units of competency — 5 core and 5 elective — covering WHS risk leadership, incident investigation, management system development, risk management tools, and consultation processes. Entry requires completion of all BSB41419 Certificate IV in WHS core units or equivalent competencies.
The Diploma of Work Health and Safety is the qualification that separates WHS officers from WHS managers. At 3CIR, we provide a programme specifically designed for military and emergency services personnel — people who already understand risk management, incident response, and safety leadership at the highest level. WHS Managers earn $125,000–$165,000 on average — with mining and resources roles exceeding $200,000.
The BSB51319 Diploma of Work Health and Safety unlocks senior WHS career opportunities. Graduates can pursue roles as a WHS Manager ($125K–$165K), Safety Manager ($145K–$165K), Senior WHS Officer, OHS Practitioner, Safety Consultant, or WHS Compliance Manager. You'll gain expertise in WHS risk leadership, incident investigation, management system maintenance, psychosocial safety, contractor compliance, and emergency procedure management.
A Diploma of WHS plus experience significantly increases your chances and credibility for senior positions. The WHS field has experienced 30%+ salary inflation due to high demand, with Safety Managers in construction averaging $154,000 and mining roles reaching $200,000+. The rise of psychosocial safety regulations and ESG requirements is driving even more demand for Diploma-qualified professionals who can lead safety strategy.
The course comprises 10 units — 5 core and 5 elective. Core units cover WHS risk management leadership, incident investigation and response, WHS management system development, risk management tool development, and consultation process management. Elective units from Group A include psychosocial safety, contractor compliance, plant hazards, and emergency procedures. Group B offers data analysis, emotional intelligence, change management, and team effectiveness.
This is a nationally recognised qualification at AQF Level 5 — the gateway to WHS management roles. The natural progression leads to the Advanced Diploma of WHS for strategic safety leadership positions.
