The BSB30220 Certificate III in Entrepreneurship and New Business is a nationally recognised vocational qualification at Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 3, drawn from the Business Services Training Package (BSB). They may provide technical advice and support to a small team. It develops practical capability in investigating business opportunities, developing and presenting business proposals, organising finances for new ventures, addressing legal and compliance requirements, determining resources, identifying business risk, marketing new ventures, and managing personal work priorities.
Successful completion of 10 units of competency is required (4 core + 6 elective). The qualification is awarded by Asset College (RTO #31718). Training and assessment are delivered under a third-party arrangement with Asset College RTO #31718. A Certificate III sits at AQF Level 3 — the qualification standard for individuals establishing or carrying on business as a sole trader or contractor. Holders demonstrate competency to investigate opportunities, develop business proposals, organise startup finances, address compliance obligations, and operate a micro business. The recognised entry credential for self-employment, ABN registration support, and small business roles in Australia.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) make up 99.8% of all Australian businesses and employ around 66% of the private sector workforce. The Australian veteran-owned business (AVOB) ecosystem is growing rapidly — with sole traders representing the largest segment of new business formations in Australia each year.
