Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for the Certificate III in Work Health and Safety (BSB30719) is a nationally regulated assessment process that evaluates a person's existing hazard identification, risk assessment, WHS law, consultation, chemical safety, and emergency prevention skills against the 11 competency units required for this Australian Qualifications Framework Level 3 credential. Rather than completing formal study, experienced workers — HSRs, WHS reps, site safety personnel, emergency responders, and anyone with workplace safety responsibility — provide evidence of their existing skills which is assessed by qualified assessors against each unit's performance criteria. Qualifications are issued by Asset College (RTO 31718), regulated by ASQA, and carry identical standing to credentials obtained through traditional study pathways. This qualification sits within the BSB Business Services Training Package and is recognised under the WHS Act 2011 and Model WHS Regulations across Australia.
