It's separate from RPL, which is for people who already have the experience and just need it formally recognised. Both pathways lead to the same nationally recognised qualifications.

RPL converts experience you already have into a qualification — no study required. You submit evidence of your skills and work history, and our assessors match it against qualification requirements. Online study is traditional learning — you complete modules, assignments, and assessments to build new knowledge. RPL is faster (4–8 weeks vs up to 52 weeks) and more affordable (from $495 vs from $900). Choose RPL if you've got 2+ years of relevant experience; choose online study if you're building skills from scratch.

Online study courses run up to 52 weeks, though you can finish sooner by studying at a faster pace. If you already have the experience and just need the qualification, RPL is the fastest route by far.

Yes — and many people do. You might use RPL to get qualified in areas where you already have strong experience, then use online study to build skills in a new area. For example, you could get a Diploma of Leadership via RPL (because you've been managing teams for years) and then study a Certificate IV in Cyber Security online (because it's a new field for you).
