RPL can help you save time and money by cutting down the number of credits needed to earn your diploma. For example, if one credit is equal to two hours’ worth of coursework, then reducing this amount would allow someone who has been enrolled in their program longer than usual with no formal education before them to still complete an entire graduation requirement without ever taking any courses! How well your prior knowledge, skills, or experience match the modules in your course determines whether you can use RPL.
Recognition of earlier learning can be used in various situations, including job changes, promotions, continuing through a specialised learning program, and personal improvement or certification of current skills without the need to progress. RPL has several advantages. They are as follows:
Training Costs are reduced: Employers profit greatly from the recognition of prior learning process since they save significant money on training expenditures. When it comes to employee training, businesses can spend a lot of money. Recognition of earlier learning will aid workers in advancing their careers by recognising their skills.
Time-Saving: There’s no reason to waste time on something you already know. This procedure will assist you in identifying your skills and abilities. It allows you to use your time better than attempting to fit into classes or groups. The RPL procedure allows you to save both time and money.
Recognised abilities: Rather than your abilities going to waste because you didn’t get a certificate, recognition of past learning methods will ensure that they are put to good use. Your abilities will not only be recognised but also be required to be nationally certified. Employees and learners should know this is not a quick route to certification.
What is the difference between earning a credential through RPL and completing formal studies?
Formal study is for people who are new to the profession and wish to learn the ropes from the ground up, whereas RPL is for those who have spent time building experience.
For example, according to the Australian Qualifications Framework, a Certificate IV in marketing via formal studies is typically about six months to 2 years. The same qualification via RPL could be completed in a few days or weeks, depending on the participant’s quality in the evidence-gathering process described above.
